The Founder...
Jody Hofer Van Ness is the Founder and CEO of Eye Box Tools, Inc. Jody is a licensed educator with an Autism Certificate and a Master's degree in education. Jody's professional career includes classroom teaching, early childhood/family education and non profit work, but she is quick to point out that her greatest resource and inspiration springs from parenting a 17 year old son with autism.
Throughout her career Jody has dedicated herself to family-centered, strength-based services. From her personal and professional experiences, she realizes that navigating life as a visual learner can be very challenging. Jody has developed tools that will support home, school and the community in providing visual strategies across a variety of environments for those individuals who benefit from this kind of communication or self-management support. Today Eye Box Tools is equipped to provide workshops across the country, a product line that can be used across environments, and a consulting practice that helps fine tune programs, tools and strategies for the individual learner.
Jody works to grow Eye Box into a comprehensive series of supports that respond to current research and trends, but more importantly seek to serve needs of individuals as they evolve. Jody acknowledges that her greatest assets are the ideas and requests she gets from parents, teachers and other professionals in the field. She invites ideas and perspectives, and considers them the path to new products and systems of support.

Visual supports have been immensely helpful for many of my patients. Any individual with language delays, difficulties with language processing or problems with organizational skills can benefit from visual supports. Anxiety about upcoming events can be reduced and this promotes positive behaviors. I frequently recommend these tools to parents. |
