Workshops offered through Eye Box Tools, Inc…
Asperger's Syndrome and Visuals
Individuals with Asperger's Syndrome benefit from unique strategies and supports
at home, in school and in the community. Join us as we discuss how using visuals
can address:
- maturity and social development
- unstated expectations
- planning, organizing, shifting attention, and multi-tasking
- applying information across different setting and people
- capitalizing on special interests
- and minimizing anxiety & stress
We will discuss social prompting,
boundary programs, mind mapping strategies and visual supports that structure
life and make it more predictable for individuals of all ages with Asperger’s
Syndrome.
The audience will come to better understand how visual structure can make life
less stressful and more satisfying and successful. Our mantra as parents, educators
and professionals: “The journey needn’t be so challenging!”
Intended audience: Individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome,
parents/caregivers/support staff, educators and related professionals.
Social Story Creation
Social Stories are concrete word and picture-based stories that are written to help individuals with social cognition deficits better understand and deal with a variety of social situations.
The Purpose of Social stories:
- Describe social situations in terms of relevant cues
- Correct an individual's responses in a non-threatening manner
- Personalize social skills programs
- Translate student goals into understandable steps
- Teach routines
- Accommodate uncertainty or changes in routines
- Address a wide variety of behaviors
Join us as we discuss the process of writing and using these stories at home, in the classroom and out in the community.
Create your own stories using Eye Box materials and take your new tools with you ready to use.
Getting Ready for the Real World
The journey through adolescence can be confusing and stressful for all teens. For those with Autism, Aspergers and other pervasive developmental disorders, navigating the issues of personal hygiene, safety, and the increasing demands of school, as well as the world of social rules, dating, and expectations, can be frustrating and confusing.
Come and learn about strategies that utilize structure and visual tools to minimize anxiety while nurturing independence, healthy and rewarding relationships, and employment success.
Let`s Get Visual
Strategies and Supports for Visual Learners
Because children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) process what they see more efficiently than what they hear, how can we use picture language and visual organizers to help them navigate more easily through their home, school and community?
Eye Box Tools, Inc presents a myriad of visual communication, organizational tools and aids, plus strategies that can be used to:
- Minimize inappropriate and problem behavior
- Reduce frustration and anxiety
- Improve communication and understanding
- Create greater independence
- Maximize success in learning
Come prepared to be inspired to create:
schedules, calendars, choice boards,
classroom management tools, task organizers,
message boards, cookbooks, charts and memory supports.
